  • May 18: The New Fraud and Abuse, Stark, and False Claims Initiatives WEBINAR

    Purpose:  The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act includes new enforcement provisions that provide federal and state governments additional tools to identify and take action against potential fraud and abuse.  This webinar will cover changes to the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Law, the False Claims Act, and other criminal and civil enforcement provisions.  The webinar will identify enforcement hot spots for hospitals and health systems, and provide suggestions for reducing the risk of liability under these laws.

  • May 20: Prevention of Multi-drug Resistant Organisms (MDROs) The Interface of Practice and the Environment WEBINAR

  • May 25: The New Payment Arrangements and Delivery System Reform Initiatives WEBINAR

    Purpose:  The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act includes new provisions that continue to shift reimbursement from fee-for-service to value based and bundled payments.  In addition, many pilot programs have been created, with incentives for providers to develop new systems for coordinating care that integrating hospitals, physicians, and other providers.  This session will review the new payment arrangements and delivery system initiatives and identify the timeframes for their implementation.  The session will also provide pointers for hospitals and health systems as they implement the new payment arrangements and plan for increasingly integrated delivery models.

  • June 17: HIPAA in a HITECH World: Proposed Amendments to the HIPAA Privacy Rule and How They Will Affect Your Hospital WEBINAR

    Purpose:  The HITECH Act of 2009 mandated major changes in the HIPAA Privacy Rule.  This webinar will cover the proposed changes to the HIPPA Privacy Rule, which the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has indicated it will publish in May 2010.  These changes are expected to include new rules on business associate contacting, restrictions on disclosure to health plans, patient electronic access to their health information, new restrictions on marketing and fundraising, and more.

  • June 22: Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act: Implications for Hospitals WEBINAR

    Purpose:  The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) is a federal law that provides participants who already have benefits under mental health and substance use disorder (MH/SUD) coverage parity with benefits limitations under their medical/surgical coverage.  On February 2, 2010, regulations implementing MHPAEA were published.

  • July 7: Hospitalist Programs: The Pros, the Cons, the Traps WEBINAR

    Purpose:  This webinar will share with participants what a quality hospitalist program should look like.  Both rural Critical Access hospitals and larger metropolitan facilities will learn what the primary challenges are of establishing a hospitalist program.  Participants will learn the key elements of a successful program, how to evaluate their hospitalist program, and what the return on investment (ROI) could be.

    Objectives:  At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
       1. Assess the various hospitalist program models for application in their hospital
       2. Establish performance metrics for hospitalists program with which the program can be measured and managed
