• Arizona residents and visitors are served by 119 hospitals in 14 counties.
• Arizona has 1.9 inpatient hospital beds per 1,000 population. Nationally, there are 2.7 inpatient hospital beds per 1,000 population.
• In 2009, Arizona had 15,850 hospital beds, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). Hospitals are licensed by ADHS in the following categories: Children's, Critical Access Hospitals, Long Term Care, Psychiatric, Rehabilitation, Short Term and Transplant. Arizona also has Indian Health Service, military and Veteran's Administration hospitals.
  
• AzHHA members represent more than 95 percent of all hospital beds in the state, from Page to Nogales and Yuma to Springerville.
• The average length of stay in an Arizona hospital in 2007 was 4.4 days, compared to the national average of 5 days, according to the American Hospital Association.
• More than 73,000 of the state's citizens work in Arizona hospitals or health networks. In fact, since 1990, Arizona hospital employment growth has significantly outpaced the annual employment growth of hospitals nationally. During that time, Arizona hospital employment soared 46 percent, while nationwide, hospital employment increased 24 percent.
• Every job at an Arizona hospital, generates an additional 1.5 jobs in the state.
• Arizona's hospitals employ 63 percent more individuals than Arizona's hotel industry and 37 percent more than its electronics and aerospace industries.
